How it works

Size = (account x risk %) / (|entry - stop| + fee per share). With a 1,000 account and 1 % risk you risk 10. A tight stop allows a bigger position, a wide stop a smaller one, but the loss at the stop stays the same.

Three rules for small accounts

  1. Cap the position value at your account size (no leverage).
  2. Count fees in the risk; they matter when risk is only a few units.
  3. Stop trading for the day after a fixed daily loss, e.g. 3 %.
